It’s been almost a month since Shanghai Disneyland opened its gates to the public for the very first time. Now, according to Yahoo Finance, Disney CEO Bob Iger says it’s “safe to assume” that nearly one million guests have experienced the company’s latest castle park for themselves.
While at the Fortune Brainstorm Tech conference in Aspen, Colorado, Iger gave an update on how the new park is performing and what he’s found surprising. “We are introducing turkey legs to China which I thought was a mistake, but we are selling 3,000 a day,” Iger said. He also mentioned that guests have been staying later in the parks than originally expected.
Shanghai Disneyland has been described by Iger many times as being “authentically Disney and distinctly Chinese.” Iger spoke a little bit on by he made the decision to go in that direction and reinvent the classic Disneyland-style park, saying, “I very much wanted to avoid being called a cultural imperialist.”
