Star Wars Land Construction Update: Work Begins On 'Tom Swayer's Island'

Tall walls were going up in the area under construction for “Star Wars” land at Disneyland during the week leading up to the park’s 61st anniversary on July 17.

While Bothan spies were attempting to find out what the walls are all about, they were able to secure a copy of an artist’s concept painting of what the new land will look like and put a copy of it on a fence near the exit to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.

The spies spotted work on Tom Sawyer Island. There were rumors that the work was being done by Imperial Stormtroopers, but the agents were unable to confirm this as they only spotted Disneyland cast members and Disney Imagineers on the island.

Correllian Engineers, okay construction workers with a back hoe, are hard at work in the basin of the northern section of the Rivers of America, The construction work, according to Bothan spies, is related to the new "Star Wars" land at Disneyland, and not for a new base for the evil Empire.

Giant earth movers (not Imperial Walkers) are still shaping the land fora new hangar forthe Millennium Falcon in "Star Wars" land at Disneyland. According to some Rebel agents, they consulted with Corellian engineers on the specifications for the hangar, as those engineers built the Millennium Falcon a millennia ago. The current whereabouts of the Falcon are unknown, though it has been reported to be somewhere along the outer rim. The Matterhorn can be seen in the distance, while on the right is Big Thunder Mountain.

Work on the Rivers of America near the Hungry Bear Restaurant (building on the right) is progressing as the Empire has not been made aware of the potential new Rebel Base that is being built by Corellian engineers at Disneyland for "Star Wars" land. The large building in the distance is the Hollywood Tower Hotel (better known as Tower of Terror) at Disney California Adventure.

Disney Imagineers (not agents of the Empire) have taken over on Tom Sawyer Island to rework structures while the island is closed to visitors during the construction of "Star Wars" land. The building is part of the support facilities for "Fantasmic!" The show will return when the Rivers of America is reopened to boat traffic at Disneyland in 2017.
