'Phantom Manor' To Receive Refurbishment In 2018, and New Details about Refurbishment Plan

On Wednesday 28th September, Disneyland Paris' Daniel Delcourt held a press conference with details about the Disneyland Paris refurbishment plan. Here are the major takeaways from the meeting:

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

- The geysers are set to return
- Big Thunder Mountain special effects will be back with the addition of the explosive finale in the final lift hill
- Automatic Train recovery system during an emergency stop will take 20 minutes instead of the one hour from the previous system

Star Tours 2

- The previous post-show area will become a shop
- Former Star Traders shop will become a Meet and Greet with Star Wars characters
- A new X-Wing will be installed above the former Star Traders
- There will be a Star Wars overlay to Space Mountain that will be seasonal

Pirates of the Caribbean

- Complete refurb is planned, with return of effects and the addition of new effects (no mention of Jack Sparrow Audio Animatronics inclusion)

Walt Disney Studio Tram Tour

- Still under consideration

Phantom Manor

- Complete renovation of the attraction (with the inclusion of new scenes)
- Will begin after Disneyland Paris 25th Anniversary, with a estimated start date of 2018
- Phantom Manor should be closed for only 6 months during this time
