Marvel Reveals Official Synopsis for 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2'

Marvel Studios has released the official synopsis for their upcoming mega-sequel, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 — granted, it isn’t really anything we haven’t heard before about the film so far.

Check it out:

"Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand."

We’ve already known that the film was largely centered around Peter Quill and his family ties, but it’s nice to at least hear confirmation of it officially, as well as the confirmation that old enemies will become new allies. If there’s any franchise prepped for that kind of switcheroo, it’s this one.

ComicBook.com states that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will mark the 15th installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, following 2016’s Marvel’s Doctor StrangeGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 was filmed at Pinewood Atlanta Studios in Fayette County, Georgia. Filming commenced in February 2016 and wrapped in June 2016. The film is written and directed by James Gunn and stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Sean Gunn, Glenn Close, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, Chris Sullivan, and Kurt Russell.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will land in theatres on May 5, 2017.
