The live-action remake of Disney's Beauty and the Beast is going to be the best in so many ways — and it's still a ways away from its March 2017 release date. Emma Watson made sure the movie wasn't short on girl power, so she along with its creators took a strong feminist approach to Belle's back story. She's not just smart, but Belle will also be the best inventor in her hometown. (Beauty is nothing without intelligence.)
It seems the producers aim is to elevate the animated classic as much as possible. Beyond the progressive outlook, the music will also be unlike anything you've ever heard before. Though it will still include tracks from the OG animation — what's the movie without a tribute to legends Time Rice and Alan Menken, who composed the music for the initial film? — Entertainment Weekly confirms two new songs will be included into the movie's lineup.
You read that right, two. new. songs.
It's unclear if the Beast will sing "If I Can't Love Her," his solo song from the stage musical, Dan Stevens will take on a new song called "For Evermore." The castle staff will get another track titled "Days in the Sun" — which Menken described as "a combination of a lullaby and a remembrance of happier days for everybody." Though Emma's Belle isn't getting another song on her plate, she does have the heavy task of starting the movie with its very first song "Belle." EW reports that she did a few months of musical training to prepare and she mentioned that at first, "It was nerve-racking, but now I’m in a place where I feel happy with what I’ve been able to do."
Change isn't always the easiest to embrace, but two new songs and hearing Emma sing for the first time is something we can all get on board with. No seriously, is it March yet?!
