Disney CEO Bob Iger has set a deal with Random House to write a book on business leadership and management.
The untitled book will draw on Iger’s lessons learned during his more than a decade as CEO of Disney, now the world’s largest media company.
“For eleven years, I’ve had the privilege of running one of the world’s most well-known and admired companies, interacting with countless creative geniuses, innovators, and almost 20,000 enthusiastic, motivated employees – and all during a time of great challenge and opportunity,” Iger said in announcing the book. “It takes a very different kind of leadership to manage a global brand in such a dynamic marketplace, and I look forward to sharing what I’ve learned with readers. The experience of managing a company whose primary business is storytelling is a story unto itself.”
North American rights to Iger’s book were sold to Random House by ICM Partners’ Esther Newberg. Random House editor-in-chief Andy Ward will serve as editor of the title. There’s no word yet on a target publication date.
News of the book will surely fuel renewed discussion in the biz about Iger’s plan to step down as CEO of Disney in 2018. With no apparent successor in place, there’s been speculation that he might extend his tenure at the top yet again.
